Many home insurance companies now require that all five lever locks are to be BS3621. This lock should be able to resist drilling and cutting using standard tools for five minutes and resist manipulation (lock picking). All windows should have locking devices and new home owners must change the locks to their new property. If the property is entered by a previous owner who still has a key, or via a lost key, it could be classed as deception rather than theft and can make your insurance claim invalid.
